Church History
pastor Duane and Amanda Phillips and their two young children were hired in
2007-08 to head up the Christian Education Department and lead the youth.
Months later a large remodeling began on the church sanctuary from top to bottom began. Side walls were opened up to enlarge the overflow area opening up the church. Pews were replaced with comfortable green chairs, new carpet, and the back Sunday school area was remodeled.
2009 Sister Bonifay Carlisle’s home to the north of the parsonage came available for purchase and the church bought it for the youth pastor’s home. Following this the church bus was bought and was used for many outings.
2010-11 the church gym was painted, sound boards were put up , the bare insulated walls were sealed and walled in to make the gym a more attractive place to gather for fellowship and fun, and the bathrooms were remodeled.
Our church was presented with an unusual
proposition in 2012 when the Church of God State Office wanted Bishop Lanny
Troller and Sister Donna Kaye and Bishop Doyle D. Glass and Wife, Sherry of the
Madison Church of God to exchange churches. Because this was the wish of both
Bishops’ the church granted the exchange and Bishop Doyle Glass became Lindens’
Pastor on April 1, 2012.
Under the leadership of Bishop Glass the church prepared for the 100th Anniversary on October 20th, 2013, being good friends with the General Overseer of the Churches of God, he asked Dr. Mark Williams to bring the message and be with us for the morning. It was a day no one there will forget, the message blessed everyone and before we all joined in fellowship for dinner on the grounds, everyone was asked to step out to the front lawn for a group photo.
Since this event, the church employed youth pastor, Brother Brandon Woodard, who has been working with the church youth. Senior luncheons every month have been successful with monthly programs under the leadership of Sister Dora Rogers and the Ladies Ministries continues to bake fruitcakes for their annual ministry of missions both home and state. Through the Ladies Ministries the Parsonage has been remodeled in many areas. Our church is reaching out to the community with programs, social media and now the web. Our Youth drama department blesses our congregation and travels to other churches as well.
Bishop Glass, continues to look forward to great things happening for Linden and as God blesses the church, we pray, we will be a blessing to all those we come in contact and fellowship with.
